ESTA is the critical link between the Victorian community and the state's emergency services agencies and it partners with the agencies to improve service delivery to the community. It provides Victoria's 24-hour emergency call-taking and dispatch services for police, fire, ambulance and VICSES and manages the provision of advanced, operational communications for police, ambulance, fire services and the SES. 
Its vision is to be a high-performing team trusted by the community and our partners to deliver the right emergency response. Its central goal is to save lives and prevent harm through speed and accuracy in emergency operations.

 

About the role

The Community Engagement Officer is a key and active participant of the ESTA Learning Centre.

Reporting to the Performance and Capability Lead, the role will drive the day to day delivery of ESTA's community engagement and education activities, including via ESTA's websites, and provide assistance and support to the Performance and Capability Lead and others within the organisation around engagement and education initiatives.

 

Key accountabilities 

  • Plan and deliver ESTA's engagement and education activities to raise triple zero awareness and ESTA's profile within the community and among stakeholders.
  • Under the direction of the Performance and Capability Lead and in collaboration with colleagues across ESTA, plan, implement and evaluate ESTA's flagship community engagement events including Triple Zero Hero Awards.
  • Support the Corporate Affairs Adviser by helping to maintain ESTA's internet presence, updating materials and images, continuously improving the organisations web presence, identifying social media opportunities and social media campaigns that positively position ESTA within the community and contribute to ESTA's intranet presence.
  • Provide the ESTA liaison point for emergency service agency, and other relevant stakeholder, community engagement and education units/divisions and ensure accurate and relevant information flow. Represent ESTA on Triple Zero Awareness Working group.
  • Help ESTA develop and deliver information and messaging to ensure that triple zero message is accessible and understood by diverse audiences across the community.
  • Develop and coordinate an ESTA volunteer speaker program including a register of volunteers, responses to external requests and provision of material/presentations/collateral.
  • Measure and report on community engagement and education activities.
  • Promote the Vision and goals of the organisation both internally and externally, with professionalism and enthusiasm and in accordance with ESTA, Emergency Management Sector and Victorian Public Sector plans and policies.
  • Maintain a safe, positive and productive work environment free from discrimination, bullying and harassment; comply with ESTA policies and procedures
  • Other duties as directed by the Performance and Capability Lead, consistent with the above duties and responsibilities.

             

About you

To be considered for this opportunity, you will have the following: 

  • Experience in stakeholder engagement, preferably with government or statutory organisations
  • Demonstrated involvement in working with community groups and co-ordination or community programs will be an advantage, as will demonstrated experience and skills in project management (3-5years)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and personal presentation
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a variety of stakeholders and demonstrable facilitation and liaison skills
  • Extensive knowledge of ESTA's services and operations
