About the role

We are currently seeking an Early Intervention and Injury Management Advisor for a people focused individual with excellent technical and organisational skills to join the Health, Safety & Wellbeing team.

The primary focus to provide expert advice and support to the whole organisation on a range of health, safety, wellbeing, early intervention and workers compensation matters. This position manages both work and non-work-related injuries to support injured people in the organisation and providing coaching to management on early and safe RTW.

Reporting to the Manager Health, Safety & Wellbeing and working in tandem with the Senior Injury Management & Workers Compensation Specialist specific accountabilities will include providing technical knowledge and guidance to managers on best practice injury prevention, early intervention, injury management and workers compensation, specialising in Mental Health. This includes managing return to work and claims, working toward reduced lost time for injured workers and a reduction in effective rates for workers' compensation premium. 

The variety and challenge in this role will come from the following duties:

• Review incident and injury and initiate case management, rehabilitation, medical, psychology, other allied health and ergonomic services where required.
• Provide effective case management by working with injured people, managers and medical practitioners to identify barriers (e.g. personal, workplace, medical), transitional duties, reasonable adjustments and develop RTW programs. This includes monitoring and reporting on the progress of an injured worker and guiding them back to their pre-injury duties.
• Develops and maintains relationships with key stakeholders through proactive communication and an open dialogue whilst displaying professionalism and pride contributing to the reputation and the performance of the People and Culture team and ESTA.
• Provide expert timely and proactive guidance, technical advice and education to managers and injured people on best practice early intervention, RTW and workers compensation.
• Oversee ESTA's early intervention programs and coordinate appointments and services as required.
• Monitor, evaluate and report on the progress of workers' compensation claims, injury and incident data and trends to fulfil reporting requirements, and informs strategies focused on injury prevention and early recognition.
• Maintains accurate early intervention, injury management and workers' compensation claim records in accordance with best practice and legislative requirements.
• Provides accurate and timely calculation of workers' compensation payments as a back up to the Senior Injury Management & Workers Compensation Specialist.
• Support the preparation of ESTA's submission for WorkCover circumstantial investigations, conciliation and legal proceedings.
• Provides injury management advice as required for non-compensable illnesses and injuries.
• Promote the Vision and goals of the organisation both internally and externally, with professionalism and enthusiasm and in accordance with ESTA, Emergency Management Sector and Victorian Public Sector plans and policies.
• Maintain a safe, positive and productive work environment free from discrimination, bullying and harassment; comply with ESTA policies and procedures
• Other duties as directed by the Manager Health, Safety & Wellbeing consistent with the above duties and responsibilities.

About you

To be considered for this opportunity, you will have the following:

• Minimum 3 years' experience in an Injury Management and RTW role with demonstrated complex case management experience Demonstrated complex case management experience and psychological injuries
• Psychologist, Social Worker, Mental Health Nurse or Mental Health Occupational Therapist with AHPRA.
• Victorian WorkSafe ‘Role of a Return-to-Work Coordinator' training
• Demonstrated understanding and practical working knowledge of the Victorian workers' compensation framework, processes, legislation, and industry standards.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders
