ESTA is the critical link between the Victorian community and the state's emergency services agencies and it partners with the agencies to improve service delivery to the community. It provides Victoria's 24-hour emergency call-taking and dispatch services for police, fire, ambulance and VICSES and manages the provision of advanced, operational communications for police, ambulance, fire services and the SES. About the role

The role of an Investigations Officer is to ensure thorough adverse event investigations are undertaken and realistic findings/recommendations are made for continuous improvement. A key function is to ensure IGEM and agency standards are adhered to within appropriate investigation timeframes and are undertaken in accordance with best practice standards. 

The variety and challenge in this role will come from the following duties:

  • Lead and conduct all investigations into events or other matters following the receipt of an adverse event. 
  • Produce findings based on the investigation and generate realistic recommendations for the continuous improvement of any impacts on ESTA's processes, procedures and policies
  • Review and respond to Observation Reports from agencies within established timeframes and in accordance with the Observation Report Policy.   
  • Provide a regular report to the Quality Improvement Manager on the findings and recommendations of investigations affecting ESTA and including the identification of systemic issues. 

About you

To be considered for this fantastic opportunity, you will have the following:

  • Qualifications in Investigations - Diploma and/or Certificate in Government Investigations (or similar qualification) or demonstrated investigative experience, critical analysis and interviewing.
  • Positive and analytical approach to problem solving and capacity to produce high quality results within a given timeframe.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experienced and comfortable working within a dynamic and fast paced team environment, including flexibility to work at any location as required.
  • Demonstrated experience with producing reports with statistical/trend analysis
  • Previous experience working within Emergency Services is desirable but not essential
